Aren’t We Just Over Reacting?
Why are we here? My goal at Single at Church, is to bring awareness to a major problem within The Church. This is a problem that the church doesn’t seem too eager to resolve or even realize exists. Older singles are often treated as second class citizens compared to their married counter parts. Ignored, neglected and made to feel unwanted. This must change in our churches across the country in order for us to have healthy and Godly churches.
Church hurt is real and DO NOT let any one tell you anything different. Being ignored and neglected in church, just because you are single and then being told that did not happen is a form of church hurt. That is the very thing that has happened to me on multiple occasions. That is one of the main reasons of GOING to church, building relationships with fellow believers. If fellow believers will have nothing to do with you, what does that say about them and that church? You decide to confront them when you go back. You only meet resistance. Therefore, you NEVER heal from your church hurt. The cycle NEVER ends.
01
Second Class Citizens?
Churches are notorious for treating older singles as second class citizens. When Christ calls us to treat everyone with compassion and acceptance.
02
No Service Allowed? Really?
Many Churches will not consider a single person for their vacant ministry role. Some Churches will not let single people even volunteer to fill their ministry needs.
03
Lack of Numbers in Church
Well 1+2=3, as in points 1 and 2 lead to point 3. When you fail to focus on a certain group you will fail to reach that group plain and simple.
Disclaimer
It will be stated here. Singles at Church will be tackling problems that older singles typically face in the church. These challenges arise once they get to be about thirty. Generally speaking, The Church does a good job ministering to the needs of college kids and young professionals. However, as they get a little older and if they are still single, The Church turns their backs on them. This needs to change.
